This informative event, which was open to the public, helped open the eyes of many to the concerns confronting the future of cancer research. Various issues were discussed, including new research focused on cancer prevention and early detection, funding, and the collaboration needed to achieve these goals. |
Hosted by Susan Dentzer, Health Correspondent for the News Hour with Jim Lehrer, the panel of experts at the event included Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), Andrew von Eschenbach, MD, Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Louis Denis, MD, Pfizer Oncology, Edward Chu, MD, Daniel DiMaio, MD, PhD, and Susan Mayne, PhD from Yale Cancer Center, and Barbara Oliver, Executive Director of Y-ME Connecticut.
