Yale Cancer Center Members Participate in Annual ASTRO Meeting
Sara Rockwell Inducted into the 2009 Class of Fellows
The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) recognized Sara Rockwell, PhD as one of 12 members of the
2009 class of ASTRO Fellows during an induction ceremony held today. The ASTRO Fellows
Program is based on merit and candidates must be long-standing members of ASTRO, have served a leadership role in the organization, and
have made a significant contribution to the field of radiation oncology.
Dr. Rockwell joined the faculty of Yale School of Medicine in 1974 and is a Professor of Therapeutic Radiology and Pharmacology. She teaches radiation biology, pharmacology, cancer biology, ethics, and career development skills in several Yale courses and lecture series. Her laboratory research focuses on studying the unphysiological microenvironments of cells within solid tumors, with the goal of improving the treatment of cancer.
Lynn Wilson Serves as Vice Chair of Scientific Program
Lynn Wilson, MD, MPH, Professor, Vice Chairman, and
Clinical Director of the Department of Therapeutic Radiology at Yale
School of Medicine, is vice chairman of the meeting's scientific
program and chairman elect for a three-year term beginning in 2011. In
addition to his leadership responsibilities, Dr. Wilson is also
responsible for the poster program and the poster walk sessions, which
feature notable professors in radiation oncology presenting and
discussing the posters chosen for display at the meeting. He is also
chair of the publications and journal committee and chair of the
editor-in-chief task force selection committee for a new journal that
ASTRO plans to launch, Practical Radiation Oncology.

Yale Assistant Professor of Therapeutic Radiology, Meena Moran, MD, has been elected chair of the Breast Cancer Abstract Selection Committee for a three-year term. In this role, she will oversee the selection process of abstracts for presentation at the annual ASTRO meeting..
Susan Higgins, MD, Associate Professor of Therapeutic Radiology, is a member of both the Scientific Program Committee and the Education Committee for this year's meeting.
