New Haven, Conn. — Yale-New Haven Hospital has been named as one of the top hospitals in the United States, according to U.S.News & World Report's annual "America's Best Hospitals" rankings, which are accessible today online and will be published in the August issue of the magazine. Ranked in 12 of 16 specialties, cancer services at the medical center were ranked 23rd in the nation.
“We are honored to once again receive the recognition of U.S.News & World Report in their annual ranking of hospitals for cancer services. The strong collaboration between Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven and Yale Cancer Center will continue to benefit our patients as we continue to build and expand our cancer care programs,” said Thomas J. Lynch, Jr., MD, Director, Yale Cancer Center, and Physician-in-Chief, Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven.
To be included in the U.S.News rankings, a hospital must receive a U.S.News score from 0 to 100, based on reputation, death rate, patient safety, and care-related factors such as nursing and patient services. The highest 50 scorers are ranked in each of the 16 categories. Based upon this evaluation, Yale-New Haven Hospital was ranked 23 on the list of 50 cancer centers throughout the nation.
