Mission:  Yale Cancer Center is committed to promoting diversity, eliminating disparities, and embracing health equity through research, education, and clinical care.

Research:

● To promote disparities related research

        - Basic science and translational research aimed at understanding biologic differences in cancer development and behavior in diverse populations

        - Clinical and outcomes research aimed at understanding differences in cancer treatment and prognosis in diverse populations

        - Community based participatory research aimed at understanding issues of concern to cancer patients and those at risk for developing cancer in diverse populations

        - Population-level/epidemiologic research

● To encourage participation of diverse populations in clinical trials

Education:

     ● Cultural competence and humility

     ● Training researchers, educators and clinicians of diverse backgrounds

     ● Health literacy

     ● Community outreach/education

Clinical Care:

    ● Engagement with community partners in improving access, screening and cancer care for diverse populations

    ● Patient-centered care/patient-family advisory council

    ● Language services

    ● Appropriate patient education materials

    ● Diverse workforce
