Departments & Organizations
The main focus of Dr. Michaud’s clinical practice, research and education is in Interventional Pulmonology. Interventional Pulmonology is a sub-specialty of Pulmonology that involves specialized and highly technical diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on the airways, pleura and lungs. These require very specific technical skills only available in a small number of academic centers in the US. As such, patients are referred for treatment from across the country and even internationally. The patient population is often quite sick with multi-system disease including COPD, lung cancer, etc., and the procedures themselves are considered high risk.
As one of the country’s most prominent center for Interventional Pulmonology, our unit is actively involved in the innovation of new technologies and both industry sponsored as well as clinician-initiated research. Currently Dr. Michaud is involved as an investigator and co-investigator in multiple clinical trials. She recently completed her Masters of Science in Health Services Research offered through Dartmouth College.
Dr. Michaud has gained international recognition for excellence in teaching of these complex techniques. Her educational responsibilities range from teaching multi-day courses in endobronchial ultrasound, advanced bronchoscopy and pleural. She has had the opportunity to train some of the foremost Interventional Bronchoscopists in the country. Finally, Dr. Michaud is committed to the advancement of her field on the national and international scene and regularly participates in educational activities at other sites including presenting at international conferences and hands-on courses.
