Guiding Love Meditation

  • 00:00Hello good morning everybody.
  • 00:01Thank you so much for joining Michelle
  • 00:04Graham licensed massage therapist.
  • 00:06I work at Smilow Cancer Hospital and it's my
  • 00:09honor and privilege to be with you today.
  • 00:12We're going to do a little opening
  • 00:14relaxation work leading into our guided
  • 00:16meditation and today our guided meditation
  • 00:19is going to be about noticing our helpers,
  • 00:21our loved ones that may have passed
  • 00:24that are still with us and guiding
  • 00:28us and offering us love.
  • 00:30So as we begin as always,
  • 00:33just allow your body to settle.
  • 00:35Give yourself a moment and find
  • 00:39a comfortable position that
  • 00:41allows your spine to be long.
  • 00:44But with the natural curve in your low back.
  • 00:49You can close your eyes or keep
  • 00:52them open the soft gaze downward
  • 00:54just a few feet in front of you.
  • 00:59Allow your belly and shoulders to relax.
  • 01:06Take a full breath in.
  • 01:10Had a long breath out.
  • 01:17As we begin, will work on opening our
  • 01:22awareness to whatever arises at the moment.
  • 01:26Thoughts, sensations, feelings in sounds.
  • 01:32Still allow them to come and go.
  • 01:38Cultivate an open awareness by practicing
  • 01:42meeting just whatever comes to you,
  • 01:45trying not to focus on or place
  • 01:48more or less weight on anyone thing.
  • 01:58Just allow yourself to take a breath in.
  • 02:03Gotta breath out.
  • 02:10If you feel yourself following a thought
  • 02:13or feeling labeling it can be helpful.
  • 02:18Labels can include simple words
  • 02:22like thinking, work. Or excitement.
  • 02:29And whenever you realize that you may
  • 02:31have gotten caught up in your thoughts.
  • 02:36Just come back to rest in this simple,
  • 02:40clear awareness of what is here right now.
  • 02:50Just continue to breathe in.
  • 02:54Hang out.
  • 03:00A shorter breath in.
  • 03:04Anna longer print out.
  • 03:12And just continue to maintain.
  • 03:15Your comfort and your presence.
  • 03:19In where you sit right now.
  • 03:26And just settle into the energy of your mind.
  • 03:37And now that you've arrived in
  • 03:40a place of presence and calm.
  • 03:43Invite in your helpers.
  • 03:48Bring to mind anyone who has
  • 03:50ever helped you in your life.
  • 03:57And as you remember,
  • 03:59each one invite them to sit
  • 04:03in the Sky ahead of you.
  • 04:06And see them there looking
  • 04:09down and smiling upon where
  • 04:12you are right here.
  • 04:14Anne right now.
  • 04:17Remember all the way back to your
  • 04:21mother and father perhaps? Well,
  • 04:24your family, those who helped raise you.
  • 04:29What call, who it was?
  • 04:32Who taught you the most basic
  • 04:35survival skills in life?
  • 04:37Who taught you? To eat.
  • 04:41How to brush your teeth.
  • 04:44How to tie your shoes.
  • 04:48Recall all the traditional
  • 04:50teachers and helpers in your life.
  • 04:54Remembering who taught you how to read?
  • 04:58How to critically think?
  • 05:01Who taught you how to
  • 05:03ask questions or wonder?
  • 05:09And then also invite in those who
  • 05:13occupy non traditional roles.
  • 05:16Someone you know who helped you by
  • 05:19simply being an example. Or a listener.
  • 05:25Or someone who is an inspiration.
  • 05:31And then maybe there have
  • 05:33been helpers in your life who
  • 05:36appeared in challenging ways.
  • 05:38Forceful, even laughable.
  • 05:40Perhaps an if you'd like to invite
  • 05:44them to to sit up there with the
  • 05:47others smiling down upon you.
  • 05:53Invited anyone else who deserves a
  • 05:56place of honor. Anyone whose life
  • 06:00has changed the course of yours.
  • 06:03Anyone who has contributed to Who You are.
  • 06:11And once they are all up there,
  • 06:14feel their presence.
  • 06:17See them smiling upon you,
  • 06:19proud of you, and loving you.
  • 06:23Feel their support and their
  • 06:26love and their care for you.
  • 06:34Visualize that love and
  • 06:37support and care as Rays of
  • 06:41light shining down on you.
  • 06:44Allow it to seep into your body.
  • 06:48And feel its warmth.
  • 06:53Feel the warmth of that light both within
  • 06:57you an like a blanket surrounding you.
  • 07:01And allow for your body to be held
  • 07:05by all that love and kindness.
  • 07:09And recognize where it is
  • 07:12that you are here meditating.
  • 07:15Continuing to grow.
  • 07:18Continuing to learn.
  • 07:21And walking the path of self improvement.
  • 07:30Recognize how precious and how
  • 07:32special and how where that is.
  • 07:35And recognize how each one of your helpers
  • 07:39has somehow contributed to your arrival
  • 07:43right here in this place and time.
  • 07:52As you feel their warmth
  • 07:55shining down upon you.
  • 07:57Remember that you are never alone.
  • 08:02And that these helpers in some sense,
  • 08:05are always with you.
  • 08:09Feel their warmth in
  • 08:12your heart in particular.
  • 08:14And generate a deep sense of
  • 08:18gratitude for each of your helpers.
  • 08:22Of all the light that shining down upon you.
  • 08:27Of all the light that seeping into your body.
  • 08:32Anne, your heart?
  • 08:35Send some of that light back out to
  • 08:39your helpers from your heart to theirs.
  • 08:47And just take a moment and in
  • 08:50your own way, in your own words,
  • 08:53in your own thoughts. Thank your helpers.
  • 09:03And as you think them,
  • 09:06send them light from your heart.
  • 09:09Smiling back upon them.
  • 09:12As they smiled down on you.
  • 09:19And then take a moment and visualize
  • 09:22each and everyone of your helpers.
  • 09:25And all the light surrounding them.
  • 09:33And take that light and dissolve it
  • 09:36into one bright, shining ball of gold.
  • 09:40A Globe of pure light vibrating and glowing.
  • 09:50Feel that light slowly descend from the
  • 09:53Sky above you to the center of your heart.
  • 10:00Feel its warmth, the warmth of
  • 10:03your countless helpers within you.
  • 10:12And stay connected to that warmth
  • 10:15as you slowly open your eyes.
  • 10:21And remember all of your helpers
  • 10:24in that light within your heart.
  • 10:26As you move about your day.
  • 10:35Take a deep breath in through your nose.
  • 10:41I had a long exhale through your mouth.
  • 10:46Take your arms and spread them to
  • 10:49both sides and we each stretch
  • 10:52with clear your wish surrounds.
  • 10:54Take your arms and make circles.
  • 10:57Take your wrists and make circles
  • 11:01with your hands. Stretch.
  • 11:05And bring your arms above your head.
  • 11:10Bend down. In Superpose.
  • 11:16And open your eyes if they're closed.
  • 11:19Just take a moment to give
  • 11:21yourself some gratitude for
  • 11:23taking the time out of your day.
  • 11:26Your busy day to just ground to
  • 11:30remember how important you are
  • 11:32with all that swirls around you.
  • 11:35Being pulled sometimes
  • 11:36in different directions,
  • 11:37just know how important you are.
  • 11:40All the helpers that you have around you,
  • 11:43all the people and places that have guided
  • 11:47you to where you are in this present moment.
  • 11:51There with you at all times in a,
  • 11:53in a light, in a positive light
  • 11:56and in the guiding motion.
  • 11:59Hugs to you.
  • 12:00Hugs to yourself.
  • 12:01Always remember made along time
  • 12:03sun shine upon you and all
  • 12:06love surround you pure light
  • 12:08within you guide your way on.
