The 50th Annual Special Olympics CT kicked off last weekend and the Smilow Screening & Prevention Program was there to provide cancer screenings and distribute information to athletes, families, and volunteers. They were joined by members of Yale Dermatology, Yale Urology and the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation, as well as the Yale New Haven Hospital Mammography van, which provided free mammograms.
There was information regarding head and neck cancer screenings, cervical and breast cancer, as well as prostate, colorectal and lung cancers. Over 40 people were screened for skin cancers and several women received mammograms. We look forward to partnering with Special Olympics CT again and congratulate all the athletes!
