September 03, 2018

Dr. Elena Ratner’s expertise is in cytoreductive surgery for women with advanced ovarian cancer, minimally invasive procedures (advanced laparoscopy and robotics) for women with gynecologic cancers or complex benign gynecologic conditions, and robotic fertility sparing surgery for young women with cancer. In addition, Dr. Ratner’s laboratory is working on new targeted drugs for ovarian cancer in order to provide patients with truly personalized care and research to reverse chemotherapy resistance in ovarian and uterine cancers.

Dr. Ratner is also the Co-Director of the Smilow Cancer Hospital Sexuality and Intimacy Program, the only clinic of its kind in the country designed to help men and women who experience sexual dysfunction after cancer. She looks forward to bringing her expertise in sexuality and menopause to Southeastern, Connecticut and will launch a program for women to counsel them on these issues, as well as a cancer survivorship program for women with gynecologic cancers, and an early detection program for ovarian cancer.

Dr. Dan-Arin Silasi will also bring expertise in cytoreductive surgery for women with advanced ovarian cancer and minimally invasive procedures (advanced laparoscopy and robotics) for patients with gynecologic malignancies or complex benign gynecologic conditions. In addition, he will provide robotic fertility sparing surgery for young women with cancer. He also prescribes chemotherapeutic management for women with gynecologic malignancies.

Drs. Ratner and Silasi look forward to partnering with gynecology colleagues at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital on surgical cases, when needed.
