Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center at Torrington, in collaboration with Agriventures Agway of Litchfield, provided a donation of flower and vegetable seed packets to the physicians, nurses, and staff at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. The seeds, once planted, will represent hope, new life, and wellness during these challenging times for healthcare workers.

“We wanted to rally our community and show support for our fellow healthcare workers at Charlotte Hungerford,” said Debra Brandt, DO, Medical Director, Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center at Torrington. “This donation is token of our appreciation to our fellow healthcare workers with the hope that the seeds bring some hope of a brighter future.”

Smilow Cancer Hospital believes in maximizing its impact on patient care and cancer science, but also within its local communities. In addition to the seed donation, the staff at Smilow Torrington recently conducted a food drive to benefit the local food bank, Friendly Hands, over Mother’s Day weekend.

“The residents of Torrington are comprised of our colleagues, patients, and friends, and it is important to us to show our support any way we can,” said Brandt.
