The Yale School of Medicine Department of Surgery is pleased to announce the recruitment of Associate Professor, Dr. Amit Khanna, to the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery. As Director of Colon and Rectal Surgery for the Bridgeport region, Dr. Khanna will be responsible for leading the provision of colorectal surgical services across for the area, in collaboration with the Digestive Health service line and Smilow Cancer Hospital Network teams.

"I am humbled and honored to join the Yale Surgery community, and for the opportunity to leverage the natural synergies between the colorectal, bariatrics, and oncology teams to optimize our care-delivery and innovation potential," said Dr. Khanna.

Dr. Khanna joins Yale via Tower Health System where he was Chief of Colon and Rectal Surgery and Director of Digestive Health Services in Philadelphia. He brings more than 20 years of experience as a high-volume surgeon, specializing in the minimally invasive treatment and management of inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal malignancy, and anorectal diseases.

"We are delighted to welcome Dr. Khanna to the Division. His expertise is an important and complementary addition to the surgical digestive health line," said Dr. Vikram Reddy, Division Chief of Colon and Rectal Surgery and Associate Surgical Chief for Digestive Health.

Building team-based, destination programs under next-generation leadership has been a strategic priority for the Department. Dr. Khanna's appointment and the growth of Digestive Health across the system puts this vision into action, and is a source of great pride.
