Abujarad Named 2025 Outstanding Partner by AOASCC for Empowering Older Adults

1 Minute Read

Fuad Abujarad, PhD, associate professor of emergency medicine, has been named the 2025 Outstanding Partner by the Area Agency on Aging of South Central Connecticut (AOASCC). This award honors Dr. Abujarad’s groundbreaking work harnessing digital health tools to empower older adults and strengthen community-based aging support.

Through his collaboration with AOASCC’s Service Navigator program, Dr. Abujarad helps ensure that older adults and caregivers can easily access essential services, resources, and advocacy—enabling them to remain independent, connected, and engaged within their communities.

Dr. Abujarad is also partnering with AOASCC on a timely initiative to assist older adults affected by recent reductions in SNAP benefits. Together, they’re developing innovative pathways to connect individuals in the Emergency Department with alternative community support such as AOASCC’s Grocery Bag Program, which provides nutritious food and practical assistance for those in need.
