Markus Müschen, MD, PhD, Arthur H. and Isabel Bunker Professor of Medicine (Hematology) and Professor of Immunobiology, has been elected to Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering (CASE) for 2023.

Müschen joined Yale Department of Internal Medicine’s Section of Hematology in 2020. He serves as the inaugural director of Yale’s Center of Molecular and Cellular Oncology at Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital. The center fosters and mentors physician-scientists as they advance their laboratory-based research programs to bridge fundamental cancer biology with clinical translation and investigation.

His research program leverages negative selection mechanisms of the immune system for the treatment of drug-resistant leukemia and lymphoma, the most frequent type of cancer in children and young adults.

CASE offers membership to Connecticut’s leading experts in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine annually. The 2023 members will be introduced at the Academy’s 48th Annual Meeting and Dinner in May.

Yale Department of Internal Medicine's Section of Hematology has a long and rich tradition of excellence in clinical care, research, and training in both non-malignant and malignant hematologic diseases. To learn more, visit Hematology.
