Lung Nodule Clinic at Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center in Trumbull

November 20, 2022

Smilow Cancer Hospital is now offering a Lung Nodule Clinic at the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center in Trumbull. The clinic provides care for patients found to have pulmonary nodules either incidentally or on lung cancer screening exams. Our multidisciplinary team of highly experienced and specialized thoracic experts are available to offer patients state-of-the-art-care including thoracic surgery, pulmonary medicine, chest radiology, advanced practice nursing, nurse navigation and a smoking cessation specialist. Once a patient is evaluated by our team of specialists, we are available to manage follow-up pulmonary care moving forward.

Pulmonary nodules are a growing concern for both patients and providers in our health system as they are noted on up to 30% of diagnostic imaging reports. Unfortunately, pulmonary nodules are often lost to follow-up. While the majority of incidentally noted nodules are benign, some have the potential to develop into lung cancer.
