Rally for Medical Research

April 05, 2013

On Monday, April 8th, at 11AM on the steps of the Carnegie Library in Washington, D.C., thousands of advocates, survivors, researchers, clinicians, business leaders and members of the general public will gather to support the Rally for Medical Research. This unified call to action is intended to raise awareness about the critical need for a sustained investment in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to improve health, spur more progress, inspire more hope and save more lives.

Thomas Lynch, Jr., MD, Director of Yale Cancer Center and Physician-in-Chief of Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven, and Roy S. Herbst, MD, PhD, Chief of Medical Oncology at Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven will both be participating in this event. The goal of the Rally for Medical Research is to unite millions of Americans across the country to call on our nation’s policymakers to make life-saving medical research funding a national priority.

Federal funding for medical research continues to decline, threatening the future health of Americans and people around the world. Given the millions of Americans that the participating organizations have the ability to reach, the effort presents a tremendous opportunity to send a powerful, coordinated message to Capitol Hill.

The event will be streamed live over YouTube. To learn more please visit, http://rallyformedicalresearch.org/
