Steven D. Gore, M.D.’82, named to post at Smilow

Steven D. Gore, M.D.’82, an internationally known hematologist, has been named director of hematologic malignancies at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven. He will begin his new appointment on November 1. Gore joins Yale from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he is a professor of oncology and a faculty member in their Cell and Molecular Medicine Program. He is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Association for Cancer Research. Gore is a member of the Leukemia Core Committee and the Leukemia Correlative Science Committee of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group.

Gore received his undergraduate degree from Yale College and his medical degree from Yale University. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics and his fellowship in oncology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on hematologic malignancies and myelodysplastic syndromes.
