Biography
Dr Roberts has directed adult sickle cell programs at two large academic medical centers. He was a co-investigator in the landmark Pain in Sickle Cell Epidemiology Study that demonstrated that chronic pain is common in adults with sickle cell disease. This promoted changes in the management of sickle cell pain throughout the nation. His current research focuses upon improving delivery of care to people with sickle cell disease. Previously, Dr Roberts worked as a cancer clinical investigator. In 2012 he received the Principal Investigator of the Year (Harry Hines Award) from the Community Clinical Oncology Program of the National Cancer Institute. Dr Roberts also has been an IRB member or Chair for two decades.
