Veerle Bossuyt, MD
Assistant Professor of Pathology
Physician Biography
I work primarily as a breast pathologist. I am part of a multidisciplinary team active in clinical care of patients with breast cancer, breast cancer clinical trials and translational research. I evaluate breast biopsies, lumpectomies, mastectomies, sentinel lymph node biopsies, and axillary dissections. This includes evaluating frozen sections and hematoxylin and eosin stained formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissues for microscopic diagnosis as well as ancillary testing to further refine prognosis and attempt to predict response to targeted treatments. My specific area of expertise is in the evaluation of breast specimens after neoadjuvant therapy to assess response to treatment. My greatest joy is when a biopsy is benign.
