Medication Adherence in Patients Treated with Capecitabine

What is the purpose of this trial?

The SMRxT Realtime Medication Adherence System is an innovative wireless medication adherence sensor embedded into a prescription container that communicates with a secure data platform. SMRxT technology measures medication adherence by changes in prescription vial content weight and is accurate to 0.1g (100mg). As changes in weight occur, the sensor reports raw adherence data to the online SMRxT system for processing, recording and monitoring. Recorded real time medication adherence data is then available for approved healthcare stakeholders. The system scores and monitors medication utilization and refill adherence, and communicates unique real time adherence data to caregivers and healthcare providers through a web-based medication adherence record. Real-time medication adherence behaviors and metrics are captured on the SMRxT secure server and analytics platform. The platform database is accessible thru a secure log in via web browser using most devices.

The ultimate goal of this trial is assess the functionality of the SMRxT bottle and Realtime Medication Adherence System in the setting of oral chemotherapy with cyclical dosing. We hypothesize that the bottle will allow a more complete portrayal of medication adherence in the real-world setting and that the addition of text-messaging reminders will improve adherence to capecitabine.
