Biography

Maxine Mackie (MC '23) majored in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology while also participating in Yale's Global Health Multidisciplinary Academic Program as a Global Health Scholar. She has professional global health experience with the DC-based Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) as an intern of their Next-Generation Sequencing team. At Yale, Maxine was the chair of the Yale Graduate-Undergraduate Mentorship Initiative (GUMI), volunteers with Community Health Educators (CHE) and the Palliative Care department of Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH), and worked with the Migration Alliance at Yale (MAY). In the Ishizuka lab, she helps elucidate the effects of dsRNA sensor agonists on the immune responses of the tumor microenvironment. When not in the lab, Maxine loves to try new restaurants with her friends!
