Abstract/SynopsisYale and Fudan University in Shanghai, under the direction of Yale Genetics Professor Tian Xu, are carrying out large genetic screens in mice to elucidate the basic mechanisms of disease development. The goals of the Center are to perform cutting-edge research and training, to serve as a model for academic reform in China, and to promote international exchange and cooperation. The Fudan-Yale Biomedical Research Center is becoming a locus for research in the field of genetics and molecular medicine, and is working to identify novel genetic solutions for human diseases ranging from cancers to a growing number of progressive neurodegenerative diseases. Research from the Center was the subject of the featured cover article in the August 2005 issue of the journal Cell.
