Biography
Yusuf Kayaer is a research scholar and aspiring physician-scientist currently conducting research in the Muschen Laboratory at Yale School of Medicine. He earned his MD degree from Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa Medical School in 2023. Following graduation, he spent 1.5 years in the Department of Hematology and Oncology at Boston University, where he worked in Dr. Laura Lowery’s laboratory. There, he utilized the Xenopus laevis model to investigate the roles of actin and microtubule associated genes in neural crest cell development. Currently, Yusuf studies Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathways in B-cell leukemias under the mentorship of Dr. Markus Müschen. He is pursuing a career in internal medicine with the goal of specializing in hematology and oncology in the United States.
