Biography
Dr. Ma is a cancer epidemiologist who studies the etiology and health outcomes of different types of cancer, with a focus on pediatric cancer (i.e., cancer that occur in children 0-19 years) and malignancies of the hematopoietic system (e.g., leukemia, lymphoma, myelodysplastic syndromes, and myeloproliferative neoplasms). Her research has addressed the impact of immunological factors, chemical exposures, and genetic characteristics on the risk of pediatric cancer. In addition, she has assessed the patterns of care and cost implications of cancer screening and treatment in older adults.
