The DeLuca Center for Innovation in Hematology Research

The DeLuca Center for Innovation in Hematology Research at Smilow Cancer Hospital was formed thanks to a generous donation by The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation. Each year a total of 5 Pilot Awards and 1 Career Development Award will be awarded to investigators who are participating in hematology-based research.

The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation was created in 1998 by the late Fred DeLuca, co-founder of the global SUBWAY® restaurant chain, to provide youth and adults the tools to achieve self-sufficiency through high-quality educational opportunities and scholarships. Today, under the broad umbrella of education, the Foundation’s impact has broadened to support artistic experiences, health awareness, and workforce development programs. The Foundation funds professional development opportunities for nurses to provide the best standard of care and innovative therapies to patients.

The goal of the DeLuca Center is to aid in the translation of Yale Cancer Center laboratory discoveries to our clinics and propel hematology research at Yale over the next decade.
