The inaugural Workshop on Precision Diagnosis of Trophoblastic Disease, hosted by the Center for Precision Medicine of Trophoblastic Disease at Yale (Y-GTD), was a success, according to Pei Hui, MD, PhD, center director.
The workshop, held June 14 to 16 at Yale School of Medicine and limited to 13 registrants, provided an intensive, highly interactive workshop to pathologists from Australia and across the United States.
“The success of this inaugural program underscores the importance of continued education in GTD and reflects Y-GTD’s commitment to advancing diagnostic excellence in gynecologic pathology,” says Hui, professor of pathology and of obstetrics, gynecology & reproductive sciences.
The workshop was designed and led by Hui, Natalia Buza, MD, professor of pathology; Krasimira Rozenova, MD, PhD, assistant professor of pathology; and Deyin Xing, MD, PhD, associate professor of pathology at Johns Hopkins. The gynecologic, molecular, and general pathologists in attendance received state-of-the-art training in the pathogenesis and precision diagnostics of GTD. The course included expert-led didactic sessions, interactive microscopy featuring rare and illustrative GTD cases, and hands-on exercises in specimen processing and interpretation of STR genotyping.
