Dr. Michael Cecchini Appointed to NCI Colon Task Force

Michael Cecchini, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine (Medical Oncology) and Co-Director of the Colorectal Program in the Center for Gastrointestinal Cancers at Smilow Cancer Hospital and Yale Cancer Center, has been appointed to the Colon Task Force of the NCI Gastrointestinal Cancer Steering Committee for a two-year term as an early career investigator.

His term will begin on January 1, 2023, and he will be part of a committee addressing the design, prioritization, and evaluation of concepts for phase 2 and phase 3 clinical trials in adult gastrointestinal cancers with the goal of improving outcomes.

As a medical oncologist Dr. Cecchini specializes in gastrointestinal cancers, including (but not limited to) colorectal, bile duct, pancreas, esophageal, and stomach cancers. He cares for patients with advanced gastrointestinal cancers and is an investigator in multiple research trials. He is also on the ASCO Scientific Review Committee for Colorectal Cancer.
