Yale Diagnostic Pathology Annual CME Review held in NYC

November 07, 2023

The second Yale Diagnostic Pathology Annual CME Review was held November 4 and 5 at the Yale Club of New York City, with a focus on Genitourinary and Gynecologic Pathology subspecialties.

Dozens of attendees spent two beautiful days in Midtown Manhattan, where they underwent an intense learning experience designed to maximize their diagnostic skills. The course provided comprehensive coverage, emphasizing knowledge gains in morphologic recognition, and using ancillary studies in the most challenging areas of diagnostic genitourinary and gynecological pathology, particularly new disease classifications and diagnostic criteria.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has been systemically updating its Blue Books in all areas of diagnostic pathology to serve as comprehensive educational tools for practicing pathologists to adopt new disease classifications and related diagnostic criteria. Yale faculty have been significant contributors to the WHO classifications in the past decade.

Topics covered on the first day included endometrial and cervical cancers, vulvar and vaginal pathology, prostate, bladder, and kidney pathologies. On the second day, lecturers discussed challenging gynecological and genitourinary cases.
