Sound Healing Meditation

  • 00:03Welcome, my name is Roberta Brown.
  • 00:06I'm a registered nurse at Greenwich
  • 00:09Hospital and I'm the integrative
  • 00:11medicine and Healing touch coordinator.
  • 00:15I would like to offer you a sound healing
  • 00:21meditation that helps to calm the mind.
  • 00:25And relax the whole body.
  • 00:28I will be focusing today on helping the
  • 00:32body to clear to have peaceful thoughts
  • 00:36or whatever thoughts that come in.
  • 00:39But usually when the vibrations begin,
  • 00:42the body relaxes and the mind slows down.
  • 00:47The thoughts slow down.
  • 00:49So this is an opportunity for you
  • 00:53to give yourself some self care.
  • 00:56From self for some self love and I
  • 00:59will be getting in a comfortable
  • 01:01position in just a moment.
  • 01:04And I invite you to get in
  • 01:06a comfortable position.
  • 01:08You can either sit in a chair with
  • 01:11your feet on the floor or you can lie
  • 01:14down even on your bed or a yoga mat
  • 01:18wherever you're most comfortable.
  • 01:20Perhaps putting a pillow under
  • 01:22your head if you're lying down
  • 01:25in a bolster under your knees.
  • 01:28This will be an opportunity for you to
  • 01:32experience sound as a healer for the body,
  • 01:36mind and spirit,
  • 01:37and it brings the cells back in harmony.
  • 01:41It also relaxes your nervous system
  • 01:44to help you to come out of the stress
  • 01:49response and come into the relaxation
  • 01:52response which is rest and digest.
  • 01:55So I hope you enjoy it.
  • 01:59And I will begin in just a moment.
  • 02:23So taking this moment to center yourself.
  • 02:27And coming into presence.
  • 02:30Right here right now.
  • 02:39By beginning to notice your breath.
  • 02:43Notice your breath as it
  • 02:46moves through your lungs.
  • 02:49You don't have to change it in any way,
  • 02:53just simply allowing it to flow. With ease.
  • 03:00And notice your physical body.
  • 03:04As you rest, either in
  • 03:06the chair or lying down.
  • 03:08Notice that there's any
  • 03:10physical tension anywhere.
  • 03:11Perhaps you can let the breath
  • 03:13go to that part of the body.
  • 03:26And thoughts come in as they do.
  • 03:29Allow them to pass like a cloud over a
  • 03:33landscape and simply bring your attention
  • 03:35back to the awareness of the breath.
  • 03:45As soon as we begin to notice our breath.
  • 03:49That slows the mind down.
  • 03:52It slows the thoughts and we come
  • 03:55into the body and we can come
  • 03:58into the heart center where the
  • 04:01intelligence and wisdom lies.
  • 04:04So I'm going to be guiding
  • 04:07you through a body scan.
  • 04:09So that you can just allow your body
  • 04:12to melt into the chair or the floor,
  • 04:16releasing any tension.
  • 04:18There's nothing to do, and there's
  • 04:21nowhere to go simply being present.
  • 04:25Listening.
  • 04:27Observing.
  • 04:28Any sounds that are coming
  • 04:32into your awareness.
  • 04:37And if any emotions bubble up inside,
  • 04:40allow them to be present and accept them.
  • 04:45Breathing in and breathing
  • 04:47out to the whole experience.
  • 05:00Bring your attention.
  • 05:02Down to the soles of your feet.
  • 05:07Notice your feet begin to
  • 05:11relax the feet. The muscles,
  • 05:16the tendons, the ligaments.
  • 05:19Hearing you owe me.
  • 05:27Noticing the angles.
  • 05:30Just allowing the fetus play
  • 05:33out relaxing the muscles.
  • 05:38Then you owe me.
  • 05:47To the ship.
  • 05:51Allowing relaxation to float up.
  • 05:56You owe me. Softening,
  • 06:01having a deep letting go.
  • 06:18Noticing the thighs front and back.
  • 06:22Allowing them to relax and soften.
  • 06:35You're saying it helps the pelvis?
  • 06:42The internal organs in the low belly feel a
  • 06:47relaxation of the internal
  • 06:50organs in the belly.
  • 06:57And so fitting the low back
  • 07:01as this wave of relaxation.
  • 07:05Comes up into the low back in the belly.
  • 07:14As you continue to rest in
  • 07:17the awareness of the breath
  • 07:20as the breath breathes you. Bring
  • 07:24attention into the torso. The rib cage.
  • 07:33The middle back.
  • 07:36Notice the back body.
  • 07:43Notice the heart center. The
  • 07:48lungs as breath flows with ease in and out.
  • 08:15go of whatever is present for you.
  • 08:20And allowing an acceptance.
  • 08:25As the wave of relaxation comes up
  • 08:28into the neck and the shoulders.
  • 08:42Allowing this wave of relaxation to go
  • 08:46down your arms. The elbows the forearm.
  • 08:53The wrist, the palms and fingers
  • 08:57feeling palmz alive would sensation.
  • 09:06Moving awareness back to
  • 09:08the neck and throat area.
  • 09:10Relaxing all the muscles front,
  • 09:13back and sides. Up into the jaw.
  • 09:19Release the job by opening
  • 09:21the mouth slightly.
  • 09:24Laxing the tongue. In the back of the throat.
  • 09:31Relaxing your eyes and softening the eyes,
  • 09:35perhaps closing them if that feels good.
  • 09:48Notice ears listening. Hearing
  • 09:55hearing sound, perhaps inside
  • 09:57the body and around you.
  • 10:04Relaxing the skull and the scalp.
  • 10:13Relaxing all the muscles in the face.
  • 10:22Relaxing the mind, the brain.
  • 10:30Feel a deep letting go of the whole body. As
  • 10:37you begin to allow your subconscious to
  • 10:41receive the soothing vibrations of the
  • 10:44Tibetan Singing Bowl as they wash in,
  • 10:48around and through you and allow
  • 10:52any healing to take place.
  • 10:56For your highest good. Relaxing
  • 11:00the whole body now. Feeling heavy.
  • 21:03Slowly and gently begin to bring
  • 21:08your awareness back to the room.
  • 21:12Back to your body. Back to your breath.
  • 21:19Begin to notice your back body resting
  • 21:23either in the chair or on the Earth.
  • 21:29Notice your front body.
  • 21:31And notice all the space around you.
  • 21:40I invite you to take in a deep full breath.
  • 21:45A conscious breath.
  • 21:47As you inhale that lifegiving oxygen.
  • 21:51At Life force energy.
  • 21:54That vitality going to
  • 21:56all the cells of the body.
  • 21:59And on the exhale,
  • 22:01releasing and letting go anything
  • 22:03that no longer serves you.
  • 22:10And when you're ready.
  • 22:14Begin to wiggle fingers and toes.
  • 22:18Perhaps moving the body a little bit?
  • 22:22If you're in the chair, you can
  • 22:24move your neck or your shoulders.
  • 22:28Reawakening integrating
  • 22:30back to this moment now.
  • 22:34The only moment there is.
  • 22:38And if you're lying down,
  • 22:40you can either stay there,
  • 22:42or you can go to your side
  • 22:44and push yourself up to a
  • 22:47comfortable seated position.
  • 22:51And just take some time to be quiet
  • 22:54for the rest of this practice
  • 22:57as you begin to integrate back.
  • 23:00Into your normal activities.
  • 23:03And I wish you a beautiful day.
